Global Agreement Targets Stronger Standards and Quality Infrastructure

The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) signed a Technical Cooperation Program agreement with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) to expand collaboration in standardization, training and technical development. The partnership is intended to support safety, quality and industrial performance in Saudi Arabia and internationally.
The agreement sets a framework for cooperation on information exchange, standards development and joint training programs. AMPP and SASO plan to coordinate on workshops, technical exchanges and participation in international standardization activities to promote best practices and strengthen quality infrastructure.
“AMPP’s collaboration with SASO represents an important milestone in expanding our global engagement in standardization and quality initiatives,” said Tim Gonzalez, vice president, Energy Integrity Solutions at AMPP. “This agreement reinforces our shared commitment to advancing standards, training, and technical excellence that drive safer, more efficient, and sustainable industrial operations.”
The Technical Cooperation Program outlines several areas of focus, including exchange of information on standardization practices and regulations, joint study and harmonization of draft standards, and participation in training, conferences and workshops. It also calls for coordination within international organizations such as ISO and IEC to support broader engagement in global standards work.
“This collaboration with SASO strengthens AMPP’s ability to contribute to the Kingdom’s growing focus on quality and innovation,” said AMPP CEO Alan Thomas. “Together, we can ensure that materials protection and performance standards are integrated into the global conversation on safety, sustainability, and industrial excellence.”
According to AMPP, the agreement supports its mission to advance materials protection and performance by sharing expertise, harmonizing standards and expanding technical collaboration. AMPP and SASO expect to develop initiatives that help industries operate more safely, efficiently and sustainably in sectors that rely on corrosion control and asset integrity.
