Orion S.A. Highlights Safety Performance for 2025

Orion S.A. reported employee safety performance in 2025 that substantially exceeded the chemical manufacturing industry average, citing continued emphasis on operating discipline and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
The company recorded three employee injuries across its global operations during the year, resulting in a Total Recordable Incident Rate of 0.18 per 200,000 exposure hours. According to Orion, this marked the second-best safety performance in the company’s history, trailing only 2017 when the company reported a TRIR of 0.17.
The TRIR metric captures all work-related injuries requiring medical treatment and normalizes results based on 200,000 work hours to allow for comparison across organizations. The average TRIR for the chemical manufacturing industry is 1.6, based on the most recent data reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“It’s a widely held view in industry that a strong safety record reflects strong operating discipline,” said CEO Corning Painter. “We reached a new level in 2025 on the safety front, and our commitment is to keep building on the success. This is just one area where we are seeing sustained benefit from ongoing manufacturing excellence initiatives.”
During the year, Orion received 10 safety awards from the International Carbon Black Association recognizing performance across multiple facilities. Eight Orion plants earned the association’s Gold Award for meeting criteria that include globally recognized safety certifications and the absence of regulatory citations related to safety events, audits or activities.
Gold Awards were presented to facilities in Belpre, Ohio; Berre-l’Étang, France; Huaibei, China; Ivanhoe, Louisiana; Jaslo, Poland; Paulinia, Brazil; Ravenna, Italy; and Yeosu, South Korea.
Two additional Orion facilities, located in Orange, Texas, and Qingdao, China, received Bronze Awards for recording zero lost-work day cases during the year.
