CCAI Launches Leadership Program for Finishing Operations

Chemical Coaters Association International launched the EDGE Leadership Training Program, a new leadership development initiative designed for rising and midlevel managers working in finishing and manufacturing environments.
According to the association, the program focuses on building leadership capability in areas such as communication, problem solving team development and operational effectiveness. EDGE was developed in partnership with Tom Morrison & Associates and draws on leadership content from Tom Morrison, The Corps Group and Dr. Rick Marks.
Participants take part in multiple sessions held quarterly throughout the year. Program elements include workshops plant tours strategic planning exercises and emotional intelligence training. The program concludes with a leadership development plan presented at the 2027 CCAI Annual Meeting.
“This program is exclusively for our members,” said Anne Goyer, executive director of CCAI. “The EDGE Leadership Program gives CCAI’s members a strategic advantage in today’s labor environment, and it’s exactly the type of program many of our members have been asking for. Leadership training reduces turnover, builds stronger teams and empowers employees to stay and grow. It’s the type of program our members need.”
CCAI cited industry research showing that leadership behaviors influence psychological safety innovation and team performance. The association also referenced a 2023 cross-industry study indicating that investment in leadership development can deliver measurable returns through improved retention internal advancement and organizational performance.
The first EDGE session is scheduled to begin in July 2026 with additional sessions planned for November 2026 and March 2027 followed by program completion at the 2027 CCAI Annual Meeting.
This announcement reflects ongoing workforce and training priorities tied to Finishing operations and long-term talent development in the coatings industry.
