Axalta Coating Systems received three 2026 Edison Awards recognizing innovations in automotive customization, electric vehicle safety and AI-driven color technology.
The company earned Gold awards for its EcoNextJet digital automotive painting system and Alesta e-PRO FG Black fire-resistant coating, along with a Bronze award for its TintMaster AI platform.
EcoNextJet is a drop-on-demand color and design application system that enables vehicle manufacturers to deliver customized exterior finishes at production scale. The system combines jettable paints with robotic application and printhead technology to support high-precision coating while maintaining durability and efficiency.
Alesta e-PRO FG Black is a powder coating designed for thermal stability and fire protection in electric vehicle battery systems. It is engineered to resist ignition, expansion and smoke generation at temperatures up to 1200 °C, helping delay fire propagation during thermal events.
TintMaster AI uses artificial intelligence and historical production data to predict color outcomes and adjust formulations before manufacturing begins. The system is designed to reduce batch adjustments and improve right-the-first-time performance, lowering waste and cycle times.
The Edison Awards recognize innovation across product development, design and sustainability, with recipients evaluated by a panel of business and academic leaders.
