IMCD Opens Technical Hub in Germany

IMCD Group has relocated and modernized its application laboratories for Coatings & Construction and Home Care I&I at BioCampus Cologne in Germany.
According to the company, the technical hub is designed to support demand for hands-on formulation support, technical services, application-oriented training and customer collaboration.
“We deliberately chose BioCampus Cologne. The modern infrastructure, strong network of research and industry, and the attractive location in the Rhineland metropolitan region provide ideal conditions for further expanding our technical expertise and offering our partners a state-of-the-art development environment,” said Christoph Garbotz, managing director of IMCD Germany.
IMCD’s Coatings & Construction Application Laboratory was first established in Cologne in 2008. It is now part of a global network of 14 Coatings & Construction laboratories with more than 50 technical experts. According to IMCD, customers in decorative paints and industrial coatings, construction and adhesives, printing inks, and textile and paper products will benefit from expanded capacity and a broader range of services.
“The modern laboratory space, enhanced technical capabilities and ample room for collaboration enable us to work even more closely with our customers, suppliers and business partners to develop tailored solutions,” said Jan Schmitter, technical manager, coatings. “At the same time, we can support development projects more efficiently and accelerate time-to-market.”
The Home Care I&I Application Laboratory, which opened in Cologne in 2016, is part of a global laboratory network of 13 locations focused on cleaning and care solutions. The new Cologne laboratory space includes specialized work areas for laundry care, dishwashing, surface care and cleaning, car care, and air care.
IMCD Group, headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands, is a distributor and formulation partner for specialty chemicals and ingredients. The company reports more than 80 application laboratories across 60 countries.
