Stahl to Make Packaging Coatings Acquisition

Stahl has signed an agreement to acquire the graphics coatings business of Weilburger Coatings in Brazil, expanding its Packaging Coatings business in Latin America.
The company said the acquisition is part of its regional growth strategy for packaging coatings and follows earlier expansions in Germany and Turkey. Stahl said the move strengthens its position in the global packaging coatings market and adds a complementary portfolio to meet changing market requirements.
According to Stahl, Brazil and the wider Latin American region represent attractive growth markets, particularly in food, beverage and consumer packaging.
“Ensuring continuity for our customers is our highest priority,” said Saul Rios, managing director LATAM at Stahl. “By maintaining supply and service from the outset, we provide a seamless transition while building a strong foundation for future growth.”
During 2026, Stahl plans to progressively insource the product portfolio at its own site in Brazil. The company said it has invested in expanding manufacturing capabilities at the site to support production of existing Stahl and Weilburger Graphics technologies.
Stahl said the investment reinforces its strategy of combining global expertise with local presence and technical service.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, subject to regulatory approvals.
Headquartered in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, Stahl is a global provider of specialty coatings for flexible materials. The company operates through three business lines: Performance Coatings, Leather Finishing and Packaging Coatings.
