Jotun has announced that DNV verified an average 1.0% speed loss for its SeaQuantum X200 antifouling coating over a dock-to-dock period.
The verification was based on in-service performance data from 41 vessels coated with SeaQuantum X200. The vessels represented medium- to high-activity operations under normal trading conditions.
The assessment followed ISO 19030 methodology, which evaluates speed loss during the final four years of a five-year dry-docking cycle. The first year after dry docking is used as a performance benchmark.
Jotun said the verified result compares with a 5.9% average speed-loss baseline referenced in ISO 19030. According to the company, the difference can support lower hull resistance, reduced fuel use and lower carbon dioxide emissions under typical operating conditions.
SeaQuantum X200 is part of Jotun’s Hull Performance Solutions 2.0 offering and is designed for predictable ocean-going trades.
