INX, Koenig & Bauer Target Pressroom Gains in Global Partnership

INX International Ink Co. and Koenig & Bauer have established a global partnership to develop optimized LED-UV, HR-UV and conventional UV printing solutions for commercial printers and packaging converters.
The partnership combines Koenig & Bauer’s sheetfed offset press technology with INX’s energy-curable inks. The companies said the integrated approach is intended to improve productivity, color consistency and sustainability from press startup through full production.
Testing conducted on Koenig & Bauer Rapida press platforms showed that INX’s ink systems can reduce makeready time, improve color stability, limit waste and support consistent print quality, according to the companies. LED-UV curing can also help reduce pressroom energy consumption.
“By combining Koenig & Bauer’s industry-leading press technology with INX’s expertise in energy-curable ink systems, we are delivering integrated solutions that help customers achieve measurable operational improvements,” said Bryce Kristo, president and CEO of INX International Ink Co.
The partnership will also support the development of technologies for food-packaging safety, “healthy printing” applications and future Cradle-to-Cradle-aligned initiatives.
“Our customers do not need isolated products; they need a seamless ecosystem stretching from the pressroom to the finished package,” said Dirk Winkler, head of process and printing technology and product management at Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed.
Customers will have access to joint demonstrations, training, workshops and technical support through Koenig & Bauer’s global demonstration and training centers. These programs will allow printers and converters to evaluate ink and press performance under production conditions.
