Virtual Aircraft Painter Brings Coating Selection to 3D

PPG has introduced the PPG AEROVIEW™ virtual aircraft painter, a digital tool for exploring and customizing coatings for business and general aviation aircraft.
Users can select an aircraft model and apply colors from PPG’s aerospace color library to generate real-time 3D renderings of proposed paint schemes. The tool provides a digital alternative to physical color brochures and is currently available for U.S. aerospace coatings products.
The platform is designed for aircraft designers, fleet managers, maintenance planners and other aviation professionals seeking to evaluate color and finish combinations before beginning a painting project.
Features include:
- Hundreds of color and finish combinations
- Real-time previews on selectable aircraft models
- Options to save, share and archive designs
- Records that can support future maintenance planning
- Integration with PPG LIVERYLAB™ studio for livery-design projects
“By allowing users to digitally customize paint schemes on specific aircraft models, this tool helps reduce design uncertainty, minimize costly repaint errors and accelerate project approvals,” said Lirong Bao, PPG global platform director, Aerospace Coatings.
