PPG Updates DTM Topcoat for More Demanding Environments
PPG has introduced an enhanced formulation of its PPG Selemix 7-159 Direct Pro 2K acrylic topcoat for the light-industrial coatings market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The direct-to-metal coating is now certified to C5M under ISO 12944-6, indicating suitability for environments with high corrosion demands. PPG said the reformulation also provides increased salt-spray resistance and reliability in demanding light-industrial applications.
The formulation is optimized for air-assisted airless application. Improved sag resistance is intended to give applicators greater control while producing a consistent, high-gloss finish.
PPG Selemix 7-159 Direct Pro is a high-solids, low-VOC coating for steel, galvanized substrates and aluminum. It is designed for direct application to metal while supporting efficient processing in industrial production environments.
Kelly Hess, PPG global light-industrial coatings product manager for Automotive Refinish, said the update combines increased corrosion protection with broader application flexibility and more stable processing.
