Madison Chemical introduced SurfTreat CLEANBOND W, a cleaner-phosphate formulated to clean metal surfaces and improve paint adhesion in one step. The blend contains phosphates, surfactants, dispersants and activators and is designed for hand-spray or spray-wand application on ferrous, aluminum and zinc alloys.
Typical use concentration is 1% to 3% by volume at the nozzle, with solution temperatures from 100 to 180 °F and contact times of 30 to 60 seconds. When used as directed, no rinse is required. For improved salt-spray resistance, Madison Chemical recommends a thorough clean-water or sealing rinse to remove unreacted residues and salts. Typical use-solution pH ranges from 4.5 to 6.
The cleaner-phosphate combines cleaning and adhesion preparation in one spray step, connecting the product to PCI’s coverage of metal pretreatment and coating adhesion.
