Starch Ether Spans Multiple Construction Formulations

Emsland Group launched Emset K 360, a modified starch ether for gypsum plaster, gypsum-lime plaster, tile adhesives and cement-mortar systems. The product is designed to work across multiple construction applications, reducing the need for separate starch ethers in different formulations.
Its drum-dried structure and fine particle size support rapid dissolution for machine-applied spray plasters and hand-applied mortars. When combined with cellulose ethers, the additive is designed to provide workability, water retention, stability and anti-sagging performance at low use levels.
Emsland evaluated the product through ultrasonic hardening analysis, tensile-strength measurements, anti-sagging tests, spreadability assessments and open-time analysis. The company noted that final performance depends on the complete formulation and processing conditions.
A single starch ether designed for several plaster, mortar and adhesive systems may simplify raw-material inventories, while application performance remains dependent on the complete formulation.
