AkzoNobel Completes Major Phase of Aerospace Coatings Expansion
AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings completed a major phase of its €22 million expansion at the Pamiers production site in France. The project is intended to increase European production capacity, improve workflows and support development of next-generation aerospace coatings.
A new warehouse adds more than 2,000 square meters of storage, including temperature-controlled cells. The company also constructed a 638-square-meter waste-management facility and modernized its quality-control and production areas. Four application cabins, a dedicated chromate-products cabin and eight laboratory benches increased quality-control capacity by 166%, according to AkzoNobel.
New production equipment includes precision weighing systems, additional paint tanks and an automatic bead mill dedicated to non-chromate coatings. Remaining construction and equipment installation are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The aerospace coatings facility additions combine greater storage and quality-control capacity with equipment dedicated to non-chromate coatings, connecting the expansion to both manufacturing output and formulation development.
