Sherwin-Williams Introduces 2027 Color Forecast Built Around Three Design Stories

August 10, 2026

Sherwin-Williams has introduced its 2027 Colormix Trend Forecast: Rewild, a collection of 48 colors organized around themes of revival, self-expression and reconnection.

Curated by the Sherwin-Williams Trendsight Team, the annual forecast is intended to identify emerging color directions across residential, commercial and industrial applications. For 2027, the company is moving away from a traditional palette-based structure and instead organizing the forecast around three design stories — Revive, Reignite and Reconnect.

The approach is intended to provide inspiration rather than prescribe specific color combinations, allowing the forecast’s colors to be mixed, layered and interpreted across different spaces and applications.

Revive looks to the past, drawing from heritage design, craftsmanship, heirloom influences and timeworn finishes. Sherwin-Williams said the direction reflects renewed interest in objects and environments that show evidence of human craft as automation becomes more prevalent.

Reignite focuses on the present and a more expressive approach to design. The story incorporates chromatic tension, tactile contrast and deliberately unexpected combinations. According to the company, the direction reflects a shift away from restraint toward interiors that feel more personal and emotionally charged.

Reconnect looks toward the future through a closer relationship between design and the natural world. The direction is influenced by local traditions, longstanding knowledge and approaches that treat nature as part of the design process rather than something separate from it.

“With Rewild, we're embracing a more intuitive approach to color forecasting,” said Emily Kantz, color strategist and interior designer at Sherwin-Williams. She said the forecast is designed to encourage individuality and creative freedom while providing direction informed by broader cultural and design trends.

The Sherwin-Williams Trendsight Team develops the forecast through research, data analysis and global trend monitoring. The company said the team includes color and design professionals with more than 200 years of combined experience. The 2027 forecast will also inform Sherwin-Williams’ upcoming Color of the Year and Colors of the Month programs.

10 Continuity Colors Added for 2027

Sherwin-Williams is also introducing a new element to the forecast for 2027: 10 Continuity Colors. The company describes these as enduring shades intended to remain relevant beyond a single trend cycle and provide grounding colors that can be paired with the broader Rewild collection.

The Continuity Colors are:

  • Forged Steel SW 9565
  • White Duck SW 7010
  • Dutch Tile Blue SW 0031
  • High Sierra SW 9588
  • Cordovan SW 6027
  • Roycroft Bronze Green SW 2846
  • Clove SW 9605
  • Icicle SW 6238
  • Red Barn SW 7591
  • Celery SW 6421

Together, the selections range from subdued neutrals and whites to historical greens, blues and reds. Forged Steel provides a deep neutral, while White Duck offers a warmer off-white. Dutch Tile Blue and Icicle extend the group into cooler blue territory, and High Sierra, Roycroft Bronze Green and Celery bring several different interpretations of green.

Cordovan and Red Barn add deeper red influences, while Clove serves as another grounding neutral.

The Broader Rewild Collection

Beyond the Continuity Colors, the forecast incorporates saturated brights, earthy greens and browns, atmospheric blues, softened neutrals and expressive reds and purples.

The remaining 38 colors in Rewild are:

Taiga SW 9654, Jalapeño SW 6629, Grenadine SW 6592, Quietude SW 6212, Perfect Greige SW 6073, Humorous Green SW 6918, Deep Sea Dive SW 7618, Warm Winter SW 9506, Yellow Bird SW 9022, Stolen Kiss SW 7586, Hulett Ore SW 9574, Cascades SW 7623 and Eminent Bronze SW 6412.

The collection continues with Mountain Fig SW 9690, Lotus Petal SW 9697, Bitter Chocolate SW 6013, Little Blue Box SW 9044, Steely Gray SW 7664, Mature Grape SW 6286, Agapanthus SW 9066, Jadite SW 6459, Secret Garden SW 6181, Caviar SW 6990, Rookwood Medium Brown SW 2807 and Perfect Periwinkle SW 9065.

Also included are Beachcomber SW 9617, Forward Fuchsia SW 6842, Drift of Mist SW 9166, Reynard SW 6348, Trinket SW 6685, White Snow SW 9541, Honorable Blue SW 6811, Renwick Golden Oak SW 2824, Universal Khaki SW 6150, Midnight SW 6264, Real Red SW 6868, Salty Dog SW 9177 and Mauve Finery SW 6282.

The range allows for combinations that extend from quiet, natural schemes to high-contrast applications. Sherwin-Williams highlighted examples including Beachcomber paired with Cascades; White Duck with Cordovan and Quietude; Taiga alongside Universal Khaki; and Renwick Golden Oak used with a dark walnut wood finish. Other featured colors include Red Barn, Forged Steel, Lotus Petal and Steely Gray.

Sherwin-Williams said the forecast reflects increasing interest in color schemes that are less rigidly defined, allowing individual colors to move between different aesthetics rather than assigning each shade to a single prescribed palette.

All 48 Rewild colors are available through Sherwin-Williams stores and online. The company is also offering forecast color-chip samples for homeowners and painting professionals and sample kits for registered members of its Design+ Trade Program.
