BASF will increase prices for neopentylglycol in the United States and Canada effective Sept. 1, 2026, or as existing contracts permit.
The increase applies to all grades and packaging and amounts to $0.10/lb, or $221 per metric ton. BASF markets neopentylglycol under the NEOL® brand.
The company did not state a reason for the adjustment in its Aug. 13 media advisory.
Neopentylglycol is a polyalcohol used as a building block in polyester and alkyd resins for coatings and plastics. BASF said its chemical and thermal stability make it useful across several applications.
Powder coatings are an important coatings application for NPG, including systems used in the construction industry and for household appliances. The intermediate is also used in lubricants, plasticizers and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
