ACTEGA Invests in Sealant Production in China

ACTEGA has announced an investment in a new sealant-production facility at its Foshan manufacturing site in Guangdong Province, China.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. The facility will manufacture standard and premium sealant grades for food and beverage can applications, allowing ACTEGA to supply Asian metal-packaging customers from within the region.
The company said integrating production, sales and technical service at the Foshan site is intended to shorten delivery times and improve customer support. Customers in the region will be able to obtain sealants, compounds and coatings through the same supplier.
The project includes a transfer of formulations, production technology and manufacturing processes from ACTEGA Artística in Spain, the company’s global sealants hub. ACTEGA previously established related sealant-production capabilities in Brazil and the United States.
Customers will also have access to ACTEGA’s ROTARflow digital system, which monitors and manages sealant film weights during can production. The company said the technology can provide greater process visibility, support more consistent application and help manufacturers control material consumption.
ACTEGA is part of ALTANA and supplies coatings, inks, adhesives, sealants and compounds to packaging and printing markets. The company did not disclose the project’s investment amount or production capacity.
The expansion supports regional supply of adhesives and sealants used in food, beverage and metal-packaging production.
