Positive sentiment in the adhesives and sealants industry improved during the second quarter even as pricing pressure and rising costs remained the sector’s leading concerns, according to the Adhesive and Sealant Council’s latest Industry Pulse survey.
The share of respondents describing current industry conditions as very or somewhat positive increased to 56%, compared with 44% in the first quarter.
Sentiment varied across the value chain. Manufacturers reported 64% positive or somewhat positive sentiment, while the figure reached 67% among distributors. Only 40% of raw-material suppliers reported the same level of optimism.
ASC attributed current cost and pricing challenges partly to tariff uncertainty and conflict in the Middle East, which continue to affect raw-material and energy costs. The association said volatility is complicating supply-chain management, pricing and cost controls.
“While the industry continues to report slight to moderate revenue growth year-over-year, demand across segments remains uneven,” ASC President Bill Allmond said in the association’s findings.
The adhesive and sealant value chain anticipates revenue growth of 1% to 5% during the next 12 months, according to the survey.
ASC launched the quarterly Industry Pulse program in early 2026 to provide member companies with regular benchmarking information. The survey tracks revenue, profitability, shipment volumes, employment, product demand and other business indicators.
The Q2 survey has closed, and full results are available through ASC’s member portal. The third-quarter survey is scheduled to open around Oct. 5.
