Flexicon has introduced a flexible screw conveyor with a trough hopper designed to receive material from multiple outlets of feeders, grinders, blenders, bulk bag dischargers and other process equipment with wide discharges.

The hopper measures 108 in. long with a 36-in. profile. Its bottom incorporates a U-shaped channel that exposes the flexible screw for the full length of the vessel, allowing material entering at different points to charge the conveyor.

A stainless steel grate is included for worker safety and to prevent oversized particles from entering the conveyor. Ports in the hopper walls allow optional installation of level sensors for monitoring material levels and identifying conditions such as overflow or conveyor starvation.

The inner screw is the only moving component that contacts material and is available in configurations for free- and non-free-flowing products, including materials that pack, cake or smear. The screw self-centers as it rotates to provide clearance from the tube wall and help minimize product degradation.

Quick-disconnect clamps near the drive and a cleanout cap at the opposite end allow removal and cleaning of the screw during material changeovers.
