PPG Uses Coatings and Murals to Revitalize Czech Hospice

PPG completed a Colorful Communities project at St. Elizabeth’s Hospice in Brno, Czechia, using durable interior coatings, calming colors and nature-inspired murals to create a more welcoming environment.
Approximately 70 volunteers from PPG’s Shared Services Center in Brno and its Architectural Coatings business participated across several sessions during the summer.
PPG provided a $36,000 grant, equivalent to approximately 750,000 Czech crowns, including 160 gallons, or 600 liters, of Primalex paint.
Products included Primalex Ceramic, a durable and washable interior coating selected for its suitability in health care environments. The color plan combined clean white surfaces with calming accent shades intended to support comfort and well-being for patients and families.
The project also included three nature-inspired murals created by Czech artist Anna Herzig. The artwork depicts natural landscapes and incorporates Secret Safari, PPG’s 2026 Color of the Year, into the overall palette.
St. Elizabeth’s Hospice is the only Brno facility providing specialized palliative care for adults. It supports patients living with terminal illnesses as well as their families.
Hospice representatives said the renewed spaces and murals help create a warmer environment for people seeking comfort, dignity and human connection during difficult circumstances.
Since 2015, PPG’s Colorful Communities program has completed more than 635 projects affecting more than 10.3 million people in over 50 countries. The company and PPG Foundation invested $18.1 million in community engagement during 2025.
The project demonstrates how washable architectural coatings, color selection and applied artwork can be combined for durability and occupant comfort in health care spaces.
