Minnesota PFAS Reporting Deadline Arrives Sept. 15

Manufacturers of products containing intentionally added PFAS face a Sept. 15 deadline for Minnesota's first round of product reporting under Amara's Law.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency requires manufacturers of covered products sold, offered for sale or distributed in the state to report information about intentionally added PFAS through the PFAS Product Reporting Information System for Manufacturers, or PRISM. The requirement also applies to products sold only online.
Required information includes a description or category of the product, the PFAS chemicals used, their concentration and the function they provide. Manufacturers must also pay a one-time $800 reporting fee. Products manufactured before July 1, 2023, are among those excluded from the reporting requirement.
The MPCA extended the original reporting deadline to Sept. 15 during implementation of the rule. Manufacturers that requested and received an extension have until Dec. 14 to report. Subsequent reports and required updates are due Feb. 1 each year.
Coatings manufacturers and suppliers selling covered products in Minnesota need to determine whether intentionally added PFAS triggers the state's reporting requirements.
