Arkema Adds Acrylic Acid Storage Capacity in South Korea

Arkema has secured 3,000 cubic meters of new tank storage capacity for glacial acrylic acid at the HDOT terminal in Ulsan.
The tank will serve as a domestic storage hub for Arkema’s glacial acrylic acid business in South Korea. The company said the added local inventory is intended to support more differentiated and reliable supply to Korean customers as demand for acrylic-based applications grows across Asia.
Arkema said the project also adds a local storage point to its Northeast Asia supply network, connecting regional supply, logistics and market operations. The company’s acrylic monomer business in Asia is supported by its production site in Taixing, China, and serves customers across China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
The announcement concerns storage and logistics rather than new acrylic acid production capacity. Arkema did not disclose the investment amount or expected throughput for the Ulsan tank.
For coatings formulators and manufacturers following acrylic acid, the new storage hub is relevant because glacial acrylic acid is an upstream building block for acrylate monomers and polymers used in coatings, while additional regional inventory can support supply reliability in Northeast Asia.
