RadTech Panel Examines Thermal-to-Energy-Cure Coil Line Conversion

RadTech will host an online panel Oct. 15 examining the technical and economic considerations involved in converting coil-coating lines from thermal curing to energy curing.
“The Great Conversion: What It Really Takes to Move a Coil Line from Thermal to Energy Cure” is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. EDT.
Discussion topics include retrofit versus greenfield projects, UV, UV-LED and electron-beam technologies, film build, gloss, flexibility and durability, along with capital and operating costs, line speed and the need to retain flexibility with legacy processes.
Eddie Baron of AZZ Precoat will moderate. Panelists are Kyle Kingsley of Sherwin-Williams, Mike Bonner of St. Clair Systems, Michael Stucky of PPG and Sebastien Villeneuve of AkzoNobel Industrial Coatings.
Energy-curing technology could offer coil coaters alternative paths for reducing process energy and changing line design while maintaining application performance. Explore more PCI coverage of UV and energy-curable coatings.
