Variosystems Expands Conformal Coating Capabilities in Switzerland

Variosystems is expanding its coating and specialized manufacturing capabilities at its Steinach, Switzerland, operation to support aerospace, defense, medical and life-science electronics.
The company has expanded its conformal-coating area with a fully integrated coating line intended to standardize application processes and improve process reliability.
Variosystems also established a new silicone-application room with an upstream decontamination area and consolidated its gluing processes into a dedicated competence center equipped with an automated dispensing and bonding system.
The investment follows a reorganization of the Steinach operation that created additional space for conformal coating and secondary manufacturing processes.
In 2027, the company plans to install a plasma surface-activation system intended to improve preparation and adhesion for coating and bonding applications. An additional automated optical inspection system for coating quality is also planned.
Variosystems said the investments are aimed at customers in highly regulated markets requiring greater process reliability, traceability and manufacturing control.
The company did not disclose the investment amount or quantify the added coating-line capacity.
The investment is relevant to readers following industrial finishing because it combines conformal coating, automated dispensing, surface preparation and inspection in a controlled electronics-manufacturing environment.
