Valence Adds Ion Vapor Deposition With Cametoid Acquisition

Valence Surface Technologies has acquired Cametoid Technologies, adding ion vapor deposition capabilities to its aerospace and defense surface-finishing business.
The transaction, announced Sept. 1, brings Cametoid’s South Windsor, Connecticut, operation into the Valence network. Financial terms were not disclosed. Cametoid CEO John Adams II, who acquired and operated the business beginning in 2010, will remain with the organization along with its management team and workforce. Valence Surface Technologies

Coating, Preparation and Inspection Capabilities
The South Windsor facility occupies more than 40,000 square feet and operates six IVD chambers supporting rack and barrel processing. Valence says the operation processes approximately 250,000 parts annually for customers in aerospace, defense, space, energy and other demanding markets.
Additional services include nondestructive testing, fluorescent penetrant inspection, chemical processing, salt-spray testing, blasting, complex masking, chromate conversion and painting. The facility’s nondestructive testing and chemical-processing capabilities are Nadcap accredited.
Cametoid was founded in 1988. It added nondestructive testing capabilities in 2012, barrel IVD processing for aerospace fasteners in 2017 and chemical processing in 2018.
“Adding Ion Vapor Deposition technology meaningfully expands our capabilities,” said David Camilleri, chairman of Valence Surface Technologies.
The acquisition was Valence’s third in 12 months and its 13th add-on transaction since inception. Valence is majority-owned by ATL Partners and British Columbia Investment Management Corp., which invested in the business in 2019. The company said it continues to pursue acquisitions in North America and Europe.
The acquisition adds a specialized deposition process to a broader industrial finishing network, combining coating, preparation and inspection services for demanding aerospace and defense components.
