Star Step Adds Powder Coatings with Acquisition
Star Step Performance Coatings Group has acquired Royal Powder, an Ohio-based manufacturer of custom powder coatings for industrial and OEM applications. The transaction closed July 31 and was announced Aug. 3. Financial terms were not disclosed.
More than 80% of Royal Powder’s coatings are custom developed. Its portfolio includes epoxy, hybrid, polyester and polyurethane systems, along with specialty formulations designed around customers’ production processes and performance requirements.
Royal Powder’s operations, management team and product lines will remain in place following the acquisition.
The transaction adds powder coating technology to Star Step’s existing portfolio of architectural paints, industrial liquid coatings, resinous flooring, concrete-repair materials and specialty coatings. It also broadens the company’s ability to serve industrial and OEM customers with both liquid and powder technologies.
The acquisition gives a the company an immediate position in powder coatings while expanding its industrial and OEM capabilities without disrupting Royal Powder’s existing operations. Explore more PCI coverage of powder coatings.
