Heidi Alderman has joined BASF's Functional Polymers business in North America as Business director, based in Charlotte, NC. Alderman was most recently business manager, Architectural Coatings, with Air Products and Chemicals Inc.

The Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) presented its 2003 Nickerson Service Award, recognizing "outstanding long-term contributions toward the advancement of the ISCC and its aims and purposes," to Ellen Carter, an industry consultant and former senior color scientist for The Sherwin-Williams Co.

Peter Ellwood, formerly Group CEO of Lloyds TSB Group plc, has joined the ICI plc board as a non-executive director and deputy chairman. Elwood will succeed Alex Trotman as chairman when Trotman retires.

Degussa has named Michael J. Konci Business Line director of the company's Initiators business in the NAFTA region.

Johnson Matthey Pigments & Dispersions named Larry Lane Sales manager, Americas and South Africa, and Brice Barnes Sales manager, Key House Accounts North America.

H.B. Fuller Co. named Stephen J. Large Group president and general manager of the company's Full-Valu/Specialty business group. He succeeds Linda Welty, who left the company to pursue another opportunity. Large will oversee the company's subsidiaries Adalis and Specialty Construction Brands Inc.; the Global Coatings Division and Consumer Division; and the Window and New Business Development units.

Juan Tobias Leon has joined Dexter Chemical L.L.C. as Group leader for Industrial Products. Leon will direct the development of new formulations for phosphate ester surfactants in architectural and industrial coatings.
