Archway Sales Inc, St. Louis, has named John T. "Jack" Baumstark vice president of Marketing and David T. Baumstark vice president of Operations.

Lorene C. Boettcher has joined PPG Industries Inc. as manager, Global Design and Color Marketing, for the company's automotive coatings business unit. She will direct the company's Advanced Color Styling Team and worldwide color marketing activities for PPG's automotive OEM coatings, and succeeds Marilyn White, who retired in July.

Kelly-Moore Paint Co. announced the appointment of Herb Giffins as president and CEO. He will succeed Joe Cristiano, who will retire in January after 18 years as president and CEO, the company said. Giffins joined Kelly-Moore in 1984 as General Merchandise manager at the company's San Carlos, CA, headquarters. Named vice president of Store Operations two years later, he spearheaded an aggressive store expansion program. In 1996, he was named president of the Southwest Division.

DuPont Chairman and CEO Charles O. Holliday Jr. has been elected chairman of The Business Council, a Washington, DC-based organization that offers recommendations on public-policy and economic issues of national concern.

Philip Jacoby has joined Mayzo Corp., a coatings-additive supplier based in Norcross, GA, as vice president of Technology.

Degussa Corp. has named Robert Poemer vice president of Architectural Colorants for the company's Coatings & Colorants business unit.

Benda-Lutz Corp., Independence, KY, has named Bill Pofahl Sales and Marketing manager for the North American market, with responsibility for sales and marketing for BLITZ Pigments and Bonding Service.

TOR Minerals International has named Mark J. Schomp vice president, Sales & Marketing. TOR Minerals, based in Corpus Christi, TX, is a supplier of titanium dioxide pigments.

Laura Sucharski has joined Raabe Corp. as Regional Account manager for the northeastern United States, with responsibility for sales of the company's Precision Color business.

Thomas C. Sullivan, chairman of RPM Inc. and chairman of the National Paint & Coatings Association's board of directors, will receive the Anti-Defamation League's David H. Litter Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes individuals "who have personified the noblest traditions of the United States of America and of the ADL," the organization said. Sullivan was cited for his outstanding record of service to his company, his industry and his community, and will receive the award at a testimonial dinner at the New York Hilton on Dec. 10. Sullivan recently retired after 31 years as RPM's chief executive.

Christopher Trout has joined Boehle Chemicals Inc. as a Technical Sales representative, with responsibility for sales in southern Ohio, southern Indiana and Kentucky.

Sartomer Co. has promoted Bo Yang to general manager of China, with responsibility for the company's operations in China, including sales and technical support. Sartomer also promoted David Long to senior vice president of Finance and Asia, with responsibility for all financial matters and business-development activities in Asia.
