ARNHEM, The Netherlands -- Akzo Nobel said it has placed three of its Chemical businesses, including its Coatings Resins unit, on the sale block as part of recently announced restructuring moves. The company said it also will seek to divest its Catalysts and Phosphorous Chemicals businesses.

Immediately after announcing the divestiture plans, Akzo Nobel said it had received “expressions of interest” in the businesses, although the company provided no other details. Chairman of the Board of Management Hans Wijers said Akzo Nobel has set no timetable to sell the businesses.

Akzo Nobel Resins is a supplier of resins for a range of coatings, including automotive OEM and plastics coatings, industrial wood finishes, and metal and protective coatings. The business also manufactures resins for powder coatings, printing ink and energy-cure systems.
