ARNHEM, The Netherlands - Akzo Nobel announced an agreement to acquire the specialty plastics-coatings business of Techni-Coat International N.V. Terms were not disclosed.
Techni-Coat, based in Belgium, is a manufacturer of plastics coatings for consumer electronics, cosmetics packaging, and sports and leisure goods. The company reported total sales of approximately 10 million euros in 2002.
Akzo Nobel said the acquisition would expand its existing commercial technologies in the areas of UV-cure products, waterbornes, laser etching and 3-D printing.
