Tracy Bergeron has joined Samuel Cabot Inc., Newburyport, MA, as Research & Development manager.

John Culbertson, who was recently named Global Business director of Rohm and Haas Co.'s Automotive Coatings business, has been elected a vice president of the company. Culbertson joined Rohm and Haas in 2001 as director of Consumer Products, Consumer and Industrial Specialties.

The Dow Chemical Co. has named Thayne Hansen Business vice president of the UCAR Emulsion Systems business, a supplier of acrylate emulsions for coatings, sealants, adhesives and textiles. Dow also announced that Mark Whiteman, Marketing manager for CELLOSIZE in North America, will assume responsibility for marketing of METHOCEL Industrial segments, focusing on the paint, building-materials and other industrial markets.

Degussa's Coatings & Colorants business unit has named Jeffery S. Hinkle Technical and Marketing director, New Colorants and Applications, with responsibility for marketing and business-development functions related to colorants. Daniel Goldberg has joined Degussa's Advanced Fillers & Pigments business unit as Technical Market manager, with responsibility for matting-agent and pigment-black coatings applications in the NAFTA region.

Industrial Environmental Coatings Corp., Pompano Beach, FL, announced the retirement of President and CEO Andy R. House, a coatings industry veteran for more than 30 years. The company has named Tony Altmann, formerly a division president with Florida Power & Light Co., interim CEO. In its announcement, the company said House had led an expansion in distribution and market share in a number of industrial markets. House, who will remain a member of the company's Advisory Board, "has been an important part of our growth and development," said Richard Meli, company owner.

Alexander "Zan" May has joined Reichhold Inc. as Global Business manager for the powder-coatings segment of the company's Global Coating and Performance Resins division.

Bruce Ellis has joined Futura Coatings Inc. as National Technical/Sales specialist for the company's pipeline-coatings business, with responsibility for expansion of Futura's pipeline coatings sales and sales network nationwide. Jim Neer has joined the company as Southeast Regional sales representative, with responsibility for sales in an eight-state area in the southeastern United States. Futura, based in St. Louis, is a manufacturer of polyurethane and polyurea coatings, binders, elastomers, and structural resins.

Fitz Chem Corp. announced an expansion of the company's sales territory into the St. Louis, Kansas City and Memphis, TN, areas, and named Gregg Peckham director of Sales-Mid South. Peckham has more than 30 years of sales, marketing and operational-management experience in the chemical-manufacturing and distribution industries, and will be responsible for expansion of sales in the new territories. Fitz Chem, based in Elmhurst, IL, is a distributor of raw materials to the coatings, ink and other industrial markets.

Eastman Chemical Co. has appointed James P. Rogers senior vice president and chief financial officer and chief operations officer for the company's Eastman Division, to the post of executive vice president of Eastman Chemical and the newly created position of president of the Eastman Division effective with the hiring of a new CFO. The Eastman Division consists of three businesses: coatings, adhesives, specialty polymers and inks; performance chemicals and intermediates; and specialty polymers. Eastman Chemical's Eastman Resins Inc. subsidiary named Hemant Dandekar general manager of the company's global inks business. Dandekar assumes responsibility for the company's worldwide Inks business and coordination of the global business team. Eastman Resins Inc.'s Lawter Graphic Arts Technology business is a supplier of printing-ink vehicles, resins, wax compounds, and waterborne polymers.
