PITTSBURGH -- PPG Industries Inc. said it has developed high-temperature powder coatings that offer superior durability in prolonged exposure to temperatures of up to 600 deg F.

The ENVIROCRON HT powder coatings, based on a proprietary silicone chemistry, are formulated for applications such as automotive, appliance and lawn and garden, where resistance to high temperatures is crucial, the company said.

Rob Edwards, PPG director of Global Powder Coatings Operations, said the coatings also offer strong adhesion properties that allow recoating or touch-up on the manufacturing line. Other characteristics include chemical and moisture resistance, Edwards said.

The coatings' performance properties have been demonstrated in extensive testing at PPG's Coatings Research and Development Center in Allison Park, PA, and in three years of outdoor exposure testing in Florida, the company said.
