Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, TN, announced the opening of a new laboratory facility for the company's adhesives raw-materials business. The facility, located in Kingsport, combines research and development, technical-service and applications-development functions and is the result of the integration of the adhesives raw-materials business acquired from Hercules Inc., said Eastman Adhesives and Polymers Technology Director Joe DeLoach. The laboratory houses pilot-scale spraying and coating equipment for hot-melt, waterborne and solvent-based adhesives and dynamic mechanical analysis and computer-controlled synthesis equipment capable of simulating a range of manufacturing conditions, the company said.
