CHICAGO - The city of Chicago has joined the ranks of jurisdictions that have filed suit against former suppliers of lead-containing paint and pigments. Using an argument being employed in the state of Rhode Island's lead-paint suit, the city is alleging that the companies created a public nuisance by making and selling lead-containing paint.
The city is seeking an unspecified financial judgment for lead treatment and cleanup, as well as compensatory damages, punitive damages and reimbursement for legal expenses.
