MINNEAPOLIS - The Valspar Corp. completed the purchase of certain assets of the forest-products business of Associated Chemists Inc., including a product line of edgesealers, surface primers, paints and stains, ink, and specialty chemicals used by manufacturers of oriented strand board and other wood products. Terms were not disclosed.
Sales of the acquired business in 2003 were approximately $28 million. The purchase also includes a manufacturing facility in Orangeburg, SC.
Valspar Chairman and CEO Richard M. Rompala called the acquired business "an excellent fit with Valspar. Their technology portfolio enhances our offerings in the building-products arena and expands our customer relationships in this important market."
