DENVER -- Professional Paint Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary General Paint Corp., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has acquired Ideal Paints of Toronto, a regional manufacturer and retailer of architectural coatings. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisition includes Ideal Paint's distribution and retail service center in Rexdale, Ontario, and three other service centers in Pickering, Oakville and London, Ontario. General Paint Corp. in 2000 expanded into Ontario with the opening of retail service centers in Cambridge, Waterloo, London, Hamilton and Windsor. The Ideal Paints purchase will bring General Paint's operations to nine retail outlets in Ontario.

Professional Paint Inc. is a privately held company that also operates the regional paint companies Frazee Industries, San Diego; Hanley Paint, El Paso, TX; Parker Paint, Tacoma, WA; Kwal Paint, Denver; Sophir Morris Paint, Omaha; and Stellar Kwal Paint (formerly Jones-Blair Co.), Dallas.
