PORTLAND, OR -- Rodda Paint Co., Portland, OR, said its “Horizon” line of zero-VOC interior and low-VOC exterior paints has received certification by Green Seal as low-emission paint products.

The company said the product line will help customers quality for credit under the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green Building Council. Rodda said it is the only U.S. paint manufacturer to offer a Green Seal-certified exterior paint, and is the only coatings manufacturer in the western United States to offer Green-Seal certified interior paints.

The company said LEED certification is becoming increasingly common in public buildings and some commercial buildings as a demonstration of sustainable site-development energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

“Sustainable development is only going to get more common here in the Northwest,” said Tom Braden, Rodda Paint president. “We wanted to offer our customers a clear choice in choosing paint that meets the highest environmental standard in the market.”

Rodda Paint introduced the Horizon flat latex wall paint in 1995, and the product line currently includes 42 different paints in various gloss levels for interior, exterior and primer applications.
