BATAVIA, Ill. - DS Containers (DSC) dedicated its new can plant on May 12, 2006, celebrating commercial production of a two-piece, polymer-coated steel can using proprietary technology developed by its partner, Daiwa Can Company of Japan. The new container initially targeted the aerosol sector but is equally adaptable to non-aerosol product applications.
The dedication included presentations by distinguished guests U.S. House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and the Honorable Jeffrey Schielke, mayor of Batavia. Willliam J. Smith Sr., DSC chairman and CEO, conducted the ceremony, pointing out that the enterprise has brought foreign investment to a sector where volume has been shrinking, creating well-paying, productive jobs in the Midwest.
