CLEVELAND -- Ferro Corp. completed its $525 million acquisition of the former Degussa Metals Catalysts Cerdec (dmc2) electronics materials, ceramics, glass and pigments units of Degussa AG from OM Group Inc. (OMG).

DMC2 had been acquired by OMG from Degussa AG in April for $1.1 billion, and OMG at that time also announced an agreement to sell parts of the business to Ferro.

The operations acquired by Ferro have annual sales of $520 million and include 22 plants worldwide. The businesses manufacture materials used in ceramic capacitors and other electronic components; colorants for tile, dinnerware and paints; glass; and ceramic glazes.

Ferro is a major powder coatings producer and also manufactures ceramic glazes and specialty chemicals.
