ARNHEM, The Netherlands - Akzo Nobel said it has acquired the remaining 20% of its global non-stick coatings joint-venture business from Coatings and Chemicals Corp. (CCC). Terms were not announced.

The venture business, formed with CCC in 1998, operates manufacturing plants in Des Plaines, IL, Italy and India, and produces non-stick powder and liquid decorative coatings for cookware, bakeware, and the automotive and aerospace markets. The products contain fluoropolymers or silicone and provide release and heat-resistance properties.

Akzo Nobel said complete ownership of the venture will allow it to expand the business worldwide. The company said it plans to begin manufacturing non-stick coatings products within the next year in China and South America.
