MIDDELBURG, the Netherlands - Eastman Chemical Middelburg B.V. has installed a new boiler next to its incinerator with the goal of realizing considerable energy and environmental savings. The system will use residual heat to generate steam at its Middelburg production site in the Netherlands. This investment will not only result in financial savings, but also in a reduction of natural gas usage, as well as a reduction in the total CO2emission of the Eastman plant. The investment is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.

“By using the new facility, we will realize an annual reduction of 15 percent of natural gas and at the same time reduce our CO2 emissions by 10 percent,” says Daan Touw, Manager Quality, Environment, Safety and Health.
