Over 2800 attendees from over 41 different countries attended the Asia Pacific Coatings Show 2008, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia from June 24–26, 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Over 2800 attendees from over 41 different countries attended the Asia Pacific Coatings Show 2008, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia from June 24–26, 2008. The show proved to be a great networking opportunity for the industry’s manufacturers and suppliers.
 
Ian Faux, VP Coatings Group, dmg world media, commented, “Despite Malaysia being a modest market, we were pleased to see a rich turnout of visitors and encouraged to hear positive feedback of our new location in 2010 of Jakarta, Indonesia.” Hiroshi Morita, General Manager for Bayer MaterialScience backed this up by stating, “Indonesia is a good market, especially for wood coatings, so you will definitely see us participating in 2010.”
 
Show highlights included a technical conference that ran alongside the event, with a total of 16 papers presented by prominent industry figures. The conference was in association with the Coatings Research Institute (CoRI) and delegates enjoyed a packed program of technical papers with the theme of “Organic Coatings: New Performances and Developments.”
 
The 8th APCS Awards were held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The winners were: Environmental Award, Zhongchuang Chemical; Most Innovative Product Award, Elcometer; Best Conference Paper Award, BYK-Chemie; Marketing Campaign of the Year Award, Hoffmann Mineral; and Best Stand Award, Centre West Chemicals.
