After a 39-year career in the paper and chemical industries, Gerald C. Marterer, President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire from Arizona Chemical. He will be replaced by Cornelis (Kees) Verhaar .

JACKSONVILLE, FL - After a 39-year career in the paper and chemical industries, Gerald C. Marterer, President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire from Arizona Chemical. He will remain on the company’s Board of Directors.
 
Cornelis (Kees) Verhaar will join Arizona Chemical as President and Chief Executive Officer. Verhaar’s experience includes nearly 30 years in executive leadership in the global chemical industry, most recently as Executive Vice President of Hexion Specialty Chemicals, where he was responsible for running Hexion’s $2.8 billion epoxy and coating resins business.
 
Marterer’s tenure at IP included leadership of the company’s Industrial Papers group and Quality groups. He was also President of IP Asia. During his six years at the helm of Arizona Chemical, Marterer led the company through a series of important transitions, most notably the sale of the company to Rhône Capital in March 2007 and its success in becoming a standalone company.
 
Verhaar has a wide range of experience in the global chemical industry. Prior to joining Hexion in 2005, Verhaar held senior management positions at companies that included Noveon Inc., Global Textiles, Johnson Polymer, DeVoe Coatings and ESHA Group.
