SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Manufacturers Association (SAMA) and the San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) has awarded MetoKote Corp., San Antonio, TX, the Environmental Excellence Award in Industrial Pretreatment at the 2008 Environmental Seminar.

This award is given annually to significant industrial users (SIUs) that have met the following criteria: not having any reporting violations from Jan. 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, indicating current compliance; having held a permit for at least two years; and not having been listed as significantly noncompliant (SNC) in the past three years. In addition, award recipients must display environmental stewardship by recognizing best management practices, water conservation practices, pollution prevention, and initiatives that are educational, innovative, cooperative, responsive, voluntary and effective. MetoKote had top honors this year and was one of only three companies selected.

MetoKote also received the international environmental certification ISO 14001 on Aug. 1, 2008. “We have worked very hard to reduce the waste discharge rate and water usage and to eliminate any possible air pollutants to achieve our ISO 14001 certification, which in turn helped us with receiving the Environmental Excellence Award,” stated Pedro Font, MetoKote’s San Antonio Plant Manager. “We made significant environmental improvements when we organized an environmental team over a year ago to set objectives and create our Environmental Management System.”
