WACKER POLYMERS is changing the name of its Airflex®, Flexbond®, Flexcryl® and Vinac® products.

MUNICH, Germany - WACKER POLYMERS is changing the name of its Airflex®, Flexbond®, Flexcryl® and Vinac® products. Effective Jan. 26, 2009, all vinyl acetate homopolymer, vinyl acetate-ethylene and acrylic copolymer grades will be known as VINNAPAS®. All copolymer dispersions that contain vinyl chloride will be renamed VINNOL®. The aim is to simplify communications with customers, distributors and research facilities worldwide via a uniform nomenclature. Another aim of rebranding these products as VINNAPAS and VINNOL – trademarks that are well established internationally – is to further boost product recognition and customer acceptance.

Last year, WACKER acquired Air Products and Chemicals Inc.’s shares in Air Products Polymers (APP) and Wacker Polymer Systems (WPS), its two former joint ventures. APP and WPS are now fully integrated into the WACKER Group.

The former APP product names are now being replaced by WACKER POLYMERS’ uniform designations for its established product families and will be known as either VINNAPAS or VINNOL. The new names are intended to streamline and simplify global communications. The name change took place in Asia on Jan. 5, 2009, and will take effect in Europe and the Americas on Jan. 26, 2009.
