DALLAS – Remmers Baustofftechnik GmbH was awarded the contract to supply coatings for the Bandra Worli Sea Link Bridge in India. It is estimated that 120,000 liters of Remmers’ Funcosil® Betonacryl will be required to cover the 5.6-kilometer-long bridge. This waterborne coating is formulated with Mowilith® pure acrylic emulsion from Celanese Emulsion Polymers.
Remmers chose Mowilith pure acrylic emulsion to ensure the coating’s ability to withstand the severe weather of the region, especially during the extremely wet monsoon season. The basic properties of the emulsion were essential for use in the open sea environment to protect the coating from waves splashing against the structure, as the bridge stretches across the Arabian Sea from the cities of Bandra to Worli, in the suburbs of Mumbai.
