MIDLAND, MI - The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) has elected Ken Yarosh, Global Service Line Manager for the specialty chemicals business of Dow Corning, to serve as Vice Chairman of the 2010 International Board of Directors. Yarosh will help to shape the policy direction of the international standards organization. His two-year term began January 1.

 

In his 24-year career with Dow Corning, Yarosh has provided key industry knowledge to advance the construction industry. From 1988 to 2002, he served as a Technical Service Specialist for North America, working with construction specifiers and sealant contractors on new and restoration building projects in North America. A year later, he took on the role of European Technical Manager for Dow Corning’s global construction industry, where he managed technical professionals to support silicone sealant, coating and water-repellent products used in structural glazing, insulating glass and building-envelope protection. In late 2006, Yarosh relocated to Dow Corning’s headquarters in Michigan to manage its sealants and adhesives product development group in the Americas.

 

Yarosh is currently Vice Chair of ASTM International Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants, and he also serves on Committees D14 on Adhesives, E06 on Performance of Buildings and E60 on Sustainability. He participates in many inter-laboratory studies and has worked on several key standards for the glazing and weatherproofing industry.

 

In 2005, Yarosh was awarded the ASTM Award of Merit, the organization’s highest award. He was also granted Certificates of Appreciation in 1998 and 2000, as well as the C24 Sealants Hall of Fame Award in 2001.
