PITTSBURGH – An Oak Creek, WI, plant operated by PPG Industries’ (PPG) Industrial Coatings business won the PPG “Souper" Bowl Challenge against a PPG facility in Springdale, PA, that encompasses both an industrial coatings plant and a research and development center.

The contest, which celebrated the big game between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, was, like the battle on the gridiron, very close. Workers in Oak Creek collected 1,039 pounds of food and $534 in cash for the Milwaukee Christian Center, topping the 1,178 pounds of food collected by their colleagues in Springdale for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Glenn Thornley, PPG Director, Coil and Extrusion Coatings Group, said there was no disputing the real winners in this contest. “Congratulations to the PPG employees at both sites who helped to make this effort such a great success,” he said. “It was a lot of fun, and better yet, it is going to truly benefit needy people in both communities.”

In addition to winning bragging rights for at least the next year, the Packers fans at PPG Oak Creek will enjoy a few cases of Clark Bars courtesy of the Steelers fans at PPG Springdale.
