LAS VEGAS - The 30th Biennial Western Coatings Symposium (WCS) will take place October 23-26, 2011. Organizers of the symposium are seeking technical presentations to be considered for the event. Sponsored by the Arizona, Golden Gate, Pacific Northwest and Los Angeles Societies for Coatings Technology, the WCS will be held at The Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas, NV.

The WCS committee is seeking presentations focused on the following topics: new formulations and coatings technologies, management in the coatings industry, and new environmental and manufacturing developments. The WCS presentation session is a technical focus event; presentation content should not be promotional or commercial in character.

Those interested should submit an abstract for presentation (100-200 words), a presentation title, the author and speaker name(s), a speaker biography, a company name, and speaker contact information. Information should be submitted no later than April 8, 2011. Limited space is available. Speakers will be notified of acceptance by April 22, 2011. Following acceptance, completed presentations must be submitted by July 29, 2011.

The Academic Poster Session at the WCS is designed to encourage university students to submit posters promoting new ideas and technologies based on preliminary or completed coatings research. Each accepted entry will be provided with a display board to highlight the research project. Students will be required to staff their posters during exhibit hours. To participate, submit a student poster abstract (100-200 words) by April 8, 2011. Include title, university name, author name(s), and contact information. Students will be notified of acceptance by April 22, 2011. Following acceptance, submissions must be completed by August 31, 2011.
