As part of the 2004 International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair-USA (Atlanta), Giardina Finishing Systems USA was presented with the Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award for its MOS Technology advancements. This honor goes to companies that demonstrate the expertise and vision to continually invest in the field of research and development and bring new products to the wood machinery market that are innovative and competitive.

The Challengers Distinguished Achievement Awards competition was composed of 73 companies that entered 118 products. A panel of 10 judges performed studies of the competing products, ultimately selecting just seven winners across different sectors.

Giardina was the only entrant selected in the lacquering sector, thanks to its lacquer drying tunnel MOS (Micro Onde Selezionate - Selected Microwaves). Giardina Officine A eromeccaniche S.p.A. from Figino Serenza (Como), was also the only Italian company to be awarded a prize (through its branch office in the Unites States, Giardiana Finishing Systems).

MOS Technology allows the application of waterborne/waterborne UV lacquers to be cured in a very rapid time while at the same time producing a very high quality of surface finish. Giardina's goal for MOS was to develop a technology where production quality and respect for the environment are one.
