This month's listing of industry awards, promotions and new hires includes Brendan Cummins, Eric R. Schnur, Peter Weissman, Russell Spotten, Bob Barach and Brian Hilscher.

Brendan Cummins

CEO, Ciba Specialty Chemicals
The board of directors of Ciba Specialty Chemicals has decided to dissolve its double mandate as of January 1, 2008, following the successful implementation of the strategic transformation of the company. Brendan Cummins, who has been chief operating officer since October 2005, will be appointed as the new CEO, while Armin Meyer, chairman of the board and CEO, will focus on his role as chairman of the board.

Eric R. Schnur

Vice President and General Manager, Performance Coatings Div., Noveon, Inc.
Noveon, Inc. has named Eric R. Schnur as vice president and general manager of its performance coatings division. In his new role, Schnur will be responsible for leading business and growth activities related to the global performance coatings organization, including sales leadership, strategic marketing, business development, major product platform introductions, and regional technical support.

Peter Weissman

RadTech President’s Award
Peter Weissman of Cytec received the 6th annual RadTech President’s Award at the RadTech winter meeting in Palm Beach, FL. This award is presented to individual members that make significant contributions to RadTech and the advancement of UV and EB technology. Weissman, chair of the RadTech Emerging Applications Committee, was recognized for his efforts in the development of a new RadTech Emerging Technologies Award and Dinner. This event was held in conjunction with the RadTech biennial e|5 Conference and Trade Show, in the spring of 2006 in Chicago.

Russell Spotten

National Sales Manager, Moisture Control Services
Russell Spotten has been appointed to national sales manager, surface preparation and coating applications, for Moisture Control Services (MCS), a division of Munters AB. Spotten is a NACE Certified Senior Corrosion Technologist and NACE Certified Protective Coatings Specialist. In his new role, Spotten will be responsible for expanding MCS’ service offerings to the industrial coatings market segment, and working with engineers, contractors and owners of major industrial facilities to develop climate control specifications that meet their project requirements. He also will oversee, train and support the MCS sales force in the industrial coatings segment.

Bob Barach

Sales Manager, Heatbath/Park Metallurgical
Heatbath/Park Metal-lurgical, a manufacturer of heat treating and metal finishing products, has appointed Bob Barach as regional sales manager. Barach will manage six technical sales representatives, and his territory will include eight states: Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Western Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida.

Brian Hilscher

Sales Manager, Hans Weber Corp.
Hans Weber Corp., the North American sales and marketing subsidiary for Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Kronach, Germany, has appointed Brian Hilscher to the position of regional sales manager. Hilscher’s responsibilities include working closely with Hans Weber’s extensive distributor channels, as well as being directly involved with the company’s customers.

Nordson Makes Changes to Executive Leadership Team

Nordson Corp. has made several changes to its executive leadership team.

Robert A. Dunnhas been named senior vice president, with responsibility for the company’s Advanced Technology Systems segment and corporate development function.

Shelly Peethas been elected vice president, chief information officer. In her new position, she will be in charge of the company’s global information systems, corporate communications and community relations departments.

Gregory Thaxtonhas been elected vice president, controller. In this position, he will serve as Nordson’s chief accounting officer and will lead the group controllers across Nordson’s 14 businesses worldwide.

Robert Veillettehas been elected vice president, general counsel. In this role, Veillette will lead the corporate law department, which includes both the general and intellectual property law functions. He will also continue as secretary.
